If your toothbrush is fully charged, you should find the toothbrush to be easily switched on and off using the on/off button.
With our Oral-B Vitality (type 3709), our Oral-B PRO 500 (also type 3709), our Oral-B PRO 1000 (type 3756, but the one with just one brushing mode), and all Oral-B toothbrushes with a ‘mode’ button, pressing the on/off button once will switch the toothbrush on, and pressing it again will switch it off.
With all our other toothbrushes that do not have a ‘mode’ button, repeated presses of the on/off button when the toothbrush is first switched on will cycle through the brushing modes, and holding the on/off button down will turn it off.
Sometimes, toothpaste can get stuck around the on/off button, and this can cause it to not function correctly, or be difficult to press. We recommend giving the toothbrush a thorough rinse under some warm water for at least ten seconds, as this should clear up any toothpaste residue. To prevent this in future, we recommend always cleaning the toothbrush handle and replaceable brush head thoroughly after every use, by taking the brush head off, rinsing both parts separately, drying them on a towel or cloth, and replacing the brush head.
If this doesn’t work, and you have the receipt for your toothbrush (that is less than two years old), you’ll be able to use the Oral-B two-year warranty to get the toothbrush repaired. To do this, you can use our Online Repair Service. You’ll be able to enter your details, and the details of the toothbrush, to get it booked in for repair. You’ll then be sent a pre-paid, pre-addressed shipping label, and a tracking number you can use to keep track of your repair.
If you don’t have the receipt, but have had the toothbrush for less than two years, we may still be able to sort this out for you! Let us know by emailing us on our website, calling us on 1-800-566-7252, or responding to this question below by clicking the ‘add a reply’ box.
If you’ve had the toothbrush for longer than two years, it’ll be out of warranty. However, one of our Service Centers may still be able to help. We’ve got a few spread out across the US, and to find which one covers your state, please follow this link. In the first drop-down menu, pick ‘Oral-B Power Toothbrushes,’ and then select your state in the last drop-down menu. You’ll then have all the contact details for your nearest Service Center. We would recommend contacting them by phone or email before sending in your toothbrush, as they’ll be able to advise you what the best course of action will be.
